Hi! I’m Heather (she/her), the founder and maker behind FIRE + FOLK. I’m a LGBTQ+ disabled woman who has been handcrafting clean, cozy candles for more than a decade. As an intersectional activist, I donate $1 from every candle sold to local organizations that make our community better.
I hope to bring a little Pacific Northwest magic into every home through beautifully scented candlelight, while sparking moments of warmth, joy, and cozy connection!
My unique, gender-inclusive fragrances are rooted in nature and inspired by life in the beautiful PNW. I personally handcraft every candle in my small studio using 100% pure, locally sourced soy wax, essential oils, non-toxic fragrance oils, FSC-certified crackling wood wicks, and recycled and sustainable vessels. Disabled with multiple autoimmune and neurological disorders, it’s important to me that the candles and body products I create are safe, clean, and free of toxins, paraffin, additives, and phthalates. In fact, many of my customers have asthma and say that my candles are the first they can burn without any issues — which makes me very happy!
I was voted Best Candles in Portland by Willamette Week magazine, and I’m proud that my candles are regularly stocked in more than 30 indie retail shops across the country!
