This bread is a nostalgic reminder of summers visiting family and the delicious food we’d share together. Simple yet so tasty, Syrian food is a treat. Description

This bread is reminiscent of the many flatbreads across Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and Jordan. The flatbreads or “manaeesh” is known for various toppings one of which is zaa’tar.

The Zaa’tar mix of Aleppo, Syria is distinct with his unique mix of spices and seeds, specifically with ground sumac which makes it extra tangy. Sprinkled on top of a labneh (tart thick yogurt) dip, mixed with olive oil and spread on thin Arabic bread, there are a variety of ways to eat zaa’tar.

INGREDIENTS
Flour, yeast, water, honey, Zaa’tar mix, sesame seeds with olive oil, pomegranate molasses, salt.

HOW TO STORE
Made fresh and without preservatives, it is best enjoyed the same day. Otherwise, slice and then storing leftovers in the freezer.

When ready to eat either frozen or recently purchased, reheat at 350 degrees for 10-20 minutes. Can last up to 1-2 months in the freezer.
