I live in Lisbon, and I love the traditional Portuguese tiles, or azulejos. They adorn buildings all over the country in infinite styles and combinations. I wanted to create my own version in thread and am so happy with how this turned out. I love this embroidery hoop as a way to commemorate a special trip, honeymoon, or retirement destination, whether for yourself or a lucky gift recipient.

This modern hand embroidery design is straightforward and satisfying. It uses only a few basic stitches to great effect. I provide suggested DMC thread colors plus stitch suggestions, but I encourage you to be creative and choose your own!
