Kakadu Plum is Australia’s Native Superfood which contains one of the highest known level of natural Vitamin C and is full of antioxidants. It has been an important nutritional source for the Indigenous Australians, the world’s oldest living population.

Apart from Vitamin C, Kakadu Plum also contains high levels of other antioxidants, including Vitamin E, Gallic acid, and ellagic acid. Although less well-known than the other antioxidants, Gallic acid, and ellagic acid have garnered a lot of attention.

Each capsule contains approximately 47.5 milligrams of whole food vitamin C.

Vitamin C-rich foods contain more than just vitamin C. They contain a huge variety of other beneficial compounds, such as flavonoids (sometimes called bioflavonoids). Dr. Szent Gyorgyi, the man who discovered vitamin C, called these compounds “Vitamin P. He found that vitamin C with these compounds was far more effective than pure vitamin C (ascorbic acid) alone. Kakadu plum contains naturally occurring bioflavonoids, as opposed to the isolated and solvent-extracted ones found in traditional vitamin C supplements.

As he said in his Nobel Prize Speech:

“At the time that I had just detected the rich vitamin content of the paprika, I was asked by a colleague of mine for pure vitamin C. This colleague himself suffered from a serious haemorrhagic diathesis. Since I still did not have enough of this crystalline substance at my disposal then, I sent him paprikas. My colleague was cured. But later we tried in vain to obtain the same therapeutic effect with pure vitamin C.”

Dr. Szent-Györgyi was right that a pure crystalline substance would never have the benefit of real whole foods with all of their complexity. No matter how badly modern corporations want to distill food into its simplest parts and tell us it is just as good as the real thing, they will never succeed.
